President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said that terrorism and kidnapping were still major national challenges
President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said that terrorism and kidnapping were still major national challenges because Nigerians had not united against them as they did against the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
Jonathan made the statement at an inter-denominational church service at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, to mark the country’s 54th Independence Anniversary coming up on Wednesday.
He said the country was able to fight and defeat the deadly Ebola disease because Nigerians united against the virus irrespective of political persuasion, religion or ethnic origin.
The president appealed for unity among Nigerians, noting that there was no problem or challenge that could withstand the force of a united Nigeria.
“Take the case of Ebola for example; this is a good example all Nigerians must learn from. When Patrick Sawyer brought Ebola to Nigeria, it was in Lagos that this incidence happened and in terms of politics, Lagos is an opposition party state but the central government is the ruling party.
“From Lagos Ebola moved to Rivers State, also opposition party state. But because all Nigerians fought Ebola irrespective of political persuasion, irrespective of religion, irrespective of ethnicity, as individuals we defeated the disease,” he said.
Jonathan commended the military and other security services for the successes they had recorded in the counter-insurge ncy operations despite internal sabotage.
He noted that what the security agencies needed was the support and encouragement of all Nigerians to rid the country of terrorists and other enemies of the Nigerian state.
The president frowned at inflammatory statements and utterances of some politicians and called for restraint in the interest the country.
“We will not require people to come from heaven or other countries to solve our problems. What we require from our brothers and sisters is to encourage our military because it is not easy.
“When people are sleeping in their houses at night, they are busy fighting. Bullets are not badminton rackets or something. When I listen to some statements made by some people who call themselves leaders, I feel sad for the country.
“We must believe that we do not have any other country outside of Nigeria,” he said.
In his sermon, the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oristejafor, said that most of the challenges confronting the country were self-inflicted.
He noted that corruption and terrorism, which he described as ‘the greatest’ problems facing the country were created by greedy politicians and extreme religious ideologists.
According to him, corruption is fed by greed, which in turn is rooted in poverty mentality.
He defined poverty mentality as the thinking that what one had was not enough.
Oristejafor differed with the school of thought that terrorism was caused by poverty.
According to him, terrorism is caused by extreme religious ideology.
The CAN president, who based his message on Mark 4:35 to 41, said that Nigeria was a boat built by God that could never sink.
He said that as Jesus calmed the storm that threatened the boat conveying Him and His disciples across Lake Galilee, God would take the country through its current challenges and restore peace to the land.
Oristejafor warned trouble-makers to either repent and retrace their steps or be ready to face God’s judgment.

The Second Reading, taken from Mark 4:34-41, was taken by the President of the Senate, David Mark.

JAMB edges stops cyber cafes from 2015 UMTE registration
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is to shut out operators of cyber cafes in the registration processes for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UMTE) for the 2015 Computer Based Test (CBT).
The board had in a statement said as it prepares to go full blast with the CBT examination next year, its portal for the 2015 test will be open in September only at designated CBT registered centres in the country.
It would be recalled that during the recent 2014 UTME, the management of JAMB said it has phased out the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) and Dual Based Test (DBT) while it would go full scale with the CBT from 2015.
JAMB’s Head of Public Relations, Fabian Benjamin, who disclosed this in a statement, added that the old system where candidates applied for the annual examination by patronising cyber cafes was no longer tenable since the number of accredited CBT centres in the country has risen significantly.
He added that the board has already intimated owners of the CBT centres of the new plan.
At a recent workshop organised for service providers, Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB, ’Dibu Ojerinde, gave presentation on how to make the registration exercise error and stress free for candidates with a view for the board to generate the necessary information for the examination.
Ojerinde commended the service providers for helping to nurture the new examination regime just as he said various measures were being taken to consolidate the UTME in Nigeria.
A Lagos owner of a cyber café in Shomolu area, Ann Iyamah, who said the development was news to her, lamented that whatever shortcomings that informed the decisions were caused by the board.

JAMB Commences Sale Of 2015 UTME Forms
JAMB has announced its application forms for the 2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which is now available nationwide for prospective candidates, reaffirming that the examination will be on Computer-Based Test (mode) only.
This was disclosed recently when Nigerian Pilot called on the Spokesperson of the Board, Mr. Fabian Benjamin.
He said the registration period will last between Monday September 15, 2014 and Thursday January 15, 2015, while the website closes Monday January 19, 2015.
He also noted that in addition to the registration fee, candidates will be expected to pay additional N500 for a copy of a newly introduced textbook, ‘The Last Days at Forcados High School’, adding that the Board has made arrangement to provide the book to avoid the challenge of availability and piracy and that the textbooks will be issued at the point of registration.
According to the JAMB Spokesman, the Board has also introduced a regulated registration format where only our Computer-Based Test, CBT, centers and state offices nationwide are authorised to register candidates.
“The idea of a regulated registration centre is to prevent situations where candidates are exploited and to check impersonation, including other acts of malpractices”, he said.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), through its registrar recently stated that candidates who were not computer literate would not be allowed to write any examination coordinated by the board from 2015. Although, the board had embarked on the establishment of computer test centres across the country to prepare students for all its examinations, many are still of the opinion that mandating candidates to write a computer-based test (CBT) may not be feasible.

I have been in the website builders business for a long time and I have been involved with reviewing dozens of site construction kits, but I can’t still give a straight answer to this question.
One of the biggest issues I face when tackling the topic is that some site owners believe that their SEO outcomes will uniquely depend on SEO capabilities of the chosen platform, not their individual actions. This is wrong, but I don’t blame them, since many website builders are actually misleading potential customers adding those ‘Super SEO-Friendly’ badges to their landing pages. It was our war-ship Clampherdown

Introduction
A carefully tailored SPF record will reduce the likelihood of your domain name getting fraudulently spoofed and keep your messages from getting flagged as spam before they reach your recipients. Email spoofing is the creation of email messages with a forged sender address; something that is simple to do because many mail servers do not perform authentication. Spam and phishing emails typically use such spoofing to mislead the recipient about the origin of the message. A number of measures to address spoofing, however, have developed over the years: SPF, Sender ID, DKIM, and DMARC. Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is an email validation system designed to prevent spam by detecting email spoofing. Today, nearly all abusive e-mail messages carry fake sender addresses. The victims whose addresses are being abused often suffer from the consequences, because their reputation gets diminished, they have to waste their time sorting out misdirected bounce messages, or (worse) their IP addresses get blacklisted.
The SPF is an open standard specifying a technical method to prevent sender-address forgery. SPF allows administrators to specify which hosts are allowed to send mail on behalf of a given domain by creating a specific SPF record (or TXT record) in the Domain Name System (DNS). Mail exchangers use DNS records to check that mail from a given domain is being sent by a host sanctioned by that domain's administrators.
Benefits
Adding an SPF record to your DNS zone file is the best way to stop spammers from spoofing your domain. In addition, an SPF Record will reduce the number of legitimate e-mail messages that are flagged as spam or bounced back by your recipients' mail servers. The SPF record is not 100% effective, unfortunately, because not all mail providers check for it. Many do, however, so you should notice a significant decrease in the amount of bounce-backs you receive.
Example SPF Record
An SPF record is added to your domain's DNS zone file as a TXT record and it identifies authorized SMTP servers for your domain.

Components of an SPF Record
An SPF record consists of the SPF version number followed by strings comprised of (i) mechanisms, (ii) qualifiers, and (sometimes) (iii) modifiers. SPF clients ignore TXT records that do not start with the version string
"v=spf1 ...".SPF records may define zero or more mechanisms. Mechanisms can be used to describe the set of hosts which are designated as authorized, outbound mailers for the domain. The following list are common mechanisms included in an SPF record:

If a qualifier is not included, the
+ qualifier is implied.SPF records may also define 1 of 2 modifiers; or, no modifier at all. Each modifier, however, can appear only once.
redirect | expSPF records are evaluated in a two-pass process: First, all mechanisms and qualifiers are evaluated. Then, all modifiers are evaluated:
- Mechanisms are evaluated from left to right;
- Modifiers are evaluated on the second pass and can occur anywhere in the record.
Mechanisms

The "all" Mechanism
The
all mechanism usually goes at the end of the SPF record; and it is prefixed with a qualifier, e.g.| Examples | Description |

Modifiers
Modifiers are optional and a modifier may appear only once per record. Unknown modifiers are ignored.
The "redirect" modifier sends the inquiry to another domain.
redirect=example.com
That is, the SPF record for example.com replaces the SPF record for the current domain. The redirect modifier is useful to those that wish to apply the same record to multiple domains. For example:

For clarity, it is RECOMMENDED that any "redirect" modifier appear as the very last term in a record.
The "exp" modifier sets up an explanation in the SPF record.

If an SPF query produces a FAIL result, the explanation is queried and the explanation string provides more information to the nonconforming user. The explanation is typically placed in an SPF log. Example: exp=spf-error. An SPF publisher can specify the explanation string that senders see. This way, an ISP can direct nonconforming users to a web page that provides further instructions.
Putting it all together
Although you do not need an SPF record on your DNS server to evaluate incoming email against SPF policies published on other DNS servers, the best practice is to set up an SPF record on your DNS server. Setting up an SPF record lets other email servers use SPF filtering (if the feature is available on the mail server) to protect against incoming email from spoofed, or forged, email addresses that may be associated with your domain. As SPF records are implemented more widely, SPF filtering will become more effective at identifying spoofed email messages.
